Farewell to a Beloved Volunteer: Judy Retires After 25 Years of Service
Sydney Adventist Hospital is bidding a fond farewell to one of its truly dedicated and cherished volunteers. Judy, who has devoted an incredible 25 years of service to the hospital, is retiring at the remarkable age of 91.
Judy’s journey as a volunteer began in October 1999, inspired by her late husband, a doctor who delivered babies at the San in the 1980s and 1990s. Wanting to continue his special connection with the hospital, she found a way to give back to the community that had meant so much to them both.
Over the years, Judy generously contributed more than 3,900 hours of her time. She initially assisted in San Snacks before moving to the Front Desk Reception, where she became a familiar and welcoming face, helping to direct visitors and offer a kind word to those who entered the hospital.
Reflecting on Judy’s incredible dedication, San Volunteer Manager Patrina shared, "Judy is an invaluable and dedicated San Volunteer. Judy began volunteering in October 1999 as a pink lady and remembers the hospital very differently back then to how it is now! There was no Clark Tower and the loop road came around to the front of Clifford Tower. Tuesday mornings were made all the brighter and more welcoming by Judy’s smile and engagement with all that came to the Front Reception Desk. She will be sorely missed."
The San community thank Judy for her dedication and wishes her a wonderful and well-earned retirement!
